Revelation defined as the communication truth by God to a rational being through means which are further than the normal course of nature. George Joyce draws a peculiarity between revelation and motivation. Motivation – such as that bestowed by Allah on the writer of a holy book (Quran) involves a special clarification of the mind, in virtue of which the receiver conceives such opinion as God needs him to commit to writing, and does not of necessity involve paranormal communication.
The Age of Enlightenment in Europe starts about the mid-17th century, the growth of rationalism, materialism or atheism, the idea of paranormal revelation itself faced cynicism. The Age of Reason (1794–1809), Thomas Paine develop theology of deism, reject the possibility of miracles and in opposition that a revelation can be careful valid only for the original receiver.
