Muharram

Muḥarram  first month of the Islamic calendar. It is one of the four holy months of the year. Because the Islamic chart is a lunar calendar, Muharram moves from year to year compared with the Gregorian calendar.

Word “Muharram” means the “forbidden”. It is detained to be the second holiest month, subsequent Ramadan. Muslims fast during these days specially in 10th of muharram. The 10th day of Muharram known as the  Day of Ashura, in which Shia Muslims is fraction of the Mourning of Muharram.

Sunni Muslims fast throughout this day, because it is record in the hadith of Musa (Moses) and his people obtain a conquest over the Egyptian Pharaoh on 10th day of Muharram so Muhammad asked Muslims to fast on this day name Ashura and on a day previous to 9th of muharram is called Tasu’a.

Shia Muslims through Muharram do special things and with diverse intention. Not only Shia people also, Sunni faction of Muslim above all the lover of Ahl al-Bayt or Sufi people do the sadness on Imam Hussein. They watch and admiration Muharram as the month that martyred Hussein ibn Ali, grandson of Muhammad or son of the brave man Ali, in the Battle of Karbala. They grieve for Hussein s/o Ali and desist from all cheerful events. Unlike Sunni Muslims and Shia Muslims do not fast on the 10th day of Muharram. In adding of there is an significant Ziyarat book, of Ziyarat Ashura about Hussein s/o Ali. In the Shia sect it is accepted to study this ziyarat on the “Day of Ashura”, though of the Shias try to read Ziyarat Ashura every day and they send salutation to Hussein s/o Ali. Sufi sect and followers of Ahl al-Bayt muharram of Sunni peoples of sects do the sorrow of Imam Hussain and Ahl al-Bayt the first day of Muharram till the 40 days after Ashura
