Tioga County  is a county located in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2010 census, the population was 51,125. Its county seat is Owego.  Its name derives from an American Indian word meaning “at the forks”, describing a meeting place. Tioga County is part of the Binghamton, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area.

What is Islam?

Islam an Arabic word, meaning “submission to ALLAH almighty, is based on the revelations of ALLAH to Muhammad (PBUH), who was born in Makah, and lived from 570 AD to 632 A.D, Among Muslims, Muhammad (PBUH) is believed to have been a descendant of Abraham, the founder of Judaism Muhammad (PBUH) received the revelation of ALLAH almighty, compiled as Quran and provided explanations of Quranic teachings in the Sunnah, a collection of traditions. Both are reinforced by the principle of Ijma. The Quran, the Sunnah and the Ijma are the three foundation of Islamic Shariah.

Islam is radically theistic and the essence of its creed is stated: “There is no God but ALLAH almighty; Muhammad is the messenger of ALLAH almighty. There is no professional priesthood in Islam and followers are expected to refrain from drinking wine. Who is the all power-full, whose will in supreme and determines men’s fate.

Good deeds will be rewarded at the last judgment day in paradise and evil deeds will be rewarded at the last judgment day in paradise and evil deeds will be punished in hell. The five pillars is primary duties of Islam are confessing the oneness of God and prophet hood of Muhammad (PBUH) including all the other prophets, praying five times a day alms-giving to the poor, tasting during the month of Ramadan and pilgrimage to Makkah at least once in a Muslim’s life time if he can afford financially.

Muslims pray five times a day at dawn called Fajar, in noon is Zohar, in afternoon is Asar, in dusk called Maghrib and night called Esha. The prayers which consist of primarily of thanks giving and praise of Allah almighty, are performed facing to Makkah and involve traditional physical postures. The principal public service takes place at    mid-day on Friday usually in mosque.
